We are looking for someone who can come on board to lead and mentor the existing team, as well as facilitate in the rapid growth of the new team that will be joining throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic focus:

  • Oversee the Drone Inspection Team, manage pilot training, performance evaluations, and operational planning.
  • Ensure drone operations comply with CAA regulations, maintain necessary certifications, and stay updated with evolving drone legislation. Support and implement the development and updating of company manuals and procedures in line with current and developing UK regulations.
  • Plan and execute UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) missions for infrastructure inspections, topographical surveys, and other geospatial data collection projects.
  • Evaluate and implement the latest UAV technologies, sensors, and software solutions to enhance operational capabilities.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols, risk assessments, and emergency procedures for all drone operations.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of geospatial data captured by drones in collaboration with data processing teams.​

Client Engagement:

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet expectations including timelines, budget and resources.
  • Regularly feedback to inspection team necessary queries and strategy amendments.

Leadership focus:

  • Conduct inspections of infrastructure, assets, and built environments, ensuring ambitious standards of reporting and defect identification.
  • Conduct pilot training programs, assess competency, and maintain the safety management system for pilot certifications, flight logs, equipment management, and reporting.
  • Oversee the maintenance and servicing of all UASs, always ensuring operational readiness.​

What do we need from you?

  • CAA-certified drone pilot (GVC) with extensive UAS flight experience.
  • Proven experience managing drone operations in surveying, construction, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of UAS regulations, risk management, and airspace coordination.
  • Expertise in drone technologies, photogrammetry, LiDAR, and geospatial data processing.
  • Strong background in inspection methodologies and defect identification, particularly in infrastructure and asset management.
  • Leadership and team management skills with experience in training and mentoring pilots.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and diligence in mission planning and execution.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with GIS, CAD, and photogrammetry data processing software (e.g., Agisoft, Reality Capture or similar).
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel as required.
  • Background in surveying, engineering, or aviation-related disciplines
  • Experience with BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) operations and automation technologies.
  • Knowledge of AI-driven data analytics and automation in drone operations.
