JOB TITLE: Senior Project Manager - Monitoring
REPORTS TO: Head of Project Management
Plowman Craven is a well-renowned surveying company based just outside North London and operating throughout the UK. Our Monitoring office is based in Southwark, London. Currently, we are expanding our services both locally in the UK and overseas in the USA, Australia and growing our already established team in India.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager that can comfortably oversee the Monitoring business group, whilst also being able to support in other departments as needed. The Monitoring department includes automated monitoring instrumentation systems for manual movement, environmental monitoring and engineering surveys, and more.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Your overall responsibility is ensuring the successful running and operating of projects, ensuring they are properly resourced, delivered on time and within budget while adhering to the highest standards that Plowman Craven offer. You will be based in the Southwark office at least 2 days per week.
Client Engagement / Stakeholder Communication
- Ensure open and proactive communication, providing regular updates on project progress and swiftly addressing client concerns. Facilitate meetings to discuss project expectations and adjust plans when needed.
- Prepare and deliver tailored presentations that showcase project progress, findings, and recommendations. Provide technical support during meetings to clarify complex issues and ensure client satisfaction.
- Ensure a seamless transition from sales to project execution by ensuring all parties fully understand the project scope and deliverables.
Project Planning & Programme Management
- Develop project plans that align with both budget and specifications, ensuring buy-in from the client and the internal team. Construct resource-based programs and create detailed revenue and cost forecasts.
- Continuously monitor project risks, proactively addressing potential delays or challenges (early warnings). Adjust plans as necessary and keep stakeholders informed of changes, ensuring financial forecasts reflect project evolution.
- Stay updated on new technologies and methodologies in surveying and automated monitoring. Leverage this technical knowledge to enhance project quality and decision-making. Collaborate with technical teams to assess the feasibility of solutions and survey methodologies.
- Successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring each receives the necessary focus and resources to meet its objectives.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Monitor project finances, including budget tracking and forecasting. Provide regular financial reports, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Collaborate with commercial teams to prepare competitive and accurate quotations.
- Identify opportunities to increase project revenues by improving operational efficiency and reducing unnecessary costs.
- Implement and maintain data management processes that ensure data accuracy and compliance with company and industry standards. Use data insights to inform project adjustments and financial decisions.
Technical Expertise, Data Management, and Documentation Coordination
- Provide technical insights and guidance to enhance project outcomes, staying informed on industry advancements in surveying and automated monitoring to improve project planning and execution.
- Implement robust data management processes to ensure accuracy, security, and easy retrieval for reporting and analysis, regularly reviewing data for discrepancies.
- Coordinate the preparation and organisation of all project documentation, including contracts, access agreements, and reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and accessibility for stakeholders.
- Maintain comprehensive records of project communications and decisions to ensure accountability and facilitate future reference.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, manage, and develop the project team, ensuring that members have the support, resources, and guidance necessary to perform effectively. Conduct kick-off meetings and provide ongoing feedback to improve team productivity.
- Strongly advocate for health, safety, and risk management, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- Degree in Engineering, Surveying, or Management.
- Solid track record of project management in surveying and automated monitoring.
- Strong knowledge of survey/automated monitoring systems and construction management, with proven project delivery.
- Experience in specification review to define project requirements.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to clients.
- Proactive, persuasive communicator with strong verbal and written skills.
- Positive approach to managing client demands and problem-solving
